ABOUT WECLIMB
WeClimb is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to using rock climbing as a tool to help underserved youth become better versions of themselves and to increase diversity in the climbing world.

Our founder Kendall Martin moved to Chattanooga, TN when he was a teenager and discovered a passion for rock climbing. While he felt welcomed by the climbing community, he realized he was often the only Black climber in the gym or outside at local crags. He wondered why rock climbing and in general the outdoor community felt inaccessible to some, and he decided he wanted to do something about it.

"As a person of color in an activity that has had a strong influence on uplifting and bettering me as a person, it saddens me to see a lack of diversity in rock climbing. From the relationships I have built to experiencing the wonder of the outdoors, this sport is more than a hobby for me, it is a therapy session - which many people can probably attest to - and I want to create opportunities for many people to experience climbing and the many doors it can open." - Kendall Martin, founder

WeClimb started with Kendall just inviting a couple kids he knew to join him at the gym, and has since progressed into an organization that uses rock climbing as a tool to help underprivileged youth become better versions of themselves and experience the outdoors.
